Unmanned aerial vehicles in combat use

Today's technological developments allow increasingly interesting solutions to be used in almost every area of life. The unmanned systems industry is one of the most rapidly developing arms sectors in the world.

The activity of TPCoE in the context of the malicious use of unmanned aerial vehicles is in line with global trends. The Centre, in cooperation with other Agency units and services, conducts a number of studies and exercises in the above-mentioned area. The implementation of prepared scenarios of combat use of drones serves to develop good practices and defence mechanisms, preventing and combating attacks by unmanned aerial systems.

Currently, this is one of the most frequently used means of conducting military operations. By far the greatest advantage of carrying out a drone attack is the absence of a crew, and therefore no risk of casualties to the operator or other contractors. Additionally, it is possible to carry out an accurate operation outside the country. An example of this is the CIA's recent counter-terrorism operation in Afghanistan, during which al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed.
