Training for police community prevention coordinators in the Podlaskie Voivodeship
On 17 December, a CAT ABW officer conducted a training course on recognising and counteracting radicalisation leading to extremism and terrorism for social prevention coordinators from municipal and district commands in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
The training was part of a seminar on preventing hate speech and hate crimes. It was a continuation of the training cooperation between CAT ABW and units responsible for social prevention in the Police.
During the training, the characteristics of contemporary terrorism and extremism were discussed, with particular emphasis on the specificity of threats in Poland and Europe. Then, the process of radicalisation was presented in detail, taking into account the factors generating vulnerability to this phenomenon. Based on terrorist profiles, the course of radicalisation and mobilisation was presented. At the end of the training, the most important narrative mechanisms used by extremist and terrorist circles to justify violence and recruit new supporters were presented.
