Expert seminar - Treatment and Therapy Centers for Addictions

On 01.04.2022 there was an expert seminar organized by the Centre for Security Studies and Education of the University of Wroclaw and TPCoE.

The purpose of the event, aimed primarily at the management staff of key institutions for treatment and therapy of addictions in Poland, was to encourage the audience to take advantage of the offer of stationary and e-learning trainings offered by TPCoE and to make presentations by the Centre's experts on radicalization and procedures for proper response in case of a terrorist event.

During the first panel, TPCoE officers gave a presentation on the impact of addictions (to alcohol and drugs) on the process of radicalization leading to terrorism. They pointed out the important role of drug use, which often appears in the CVs of the perpetrators of terrorist attacks. They stressed the important role that addiction treatment and therapy centers can play in recognizing and preventing radicalization and encouraged the audience to deepen their knowledge in this area by, among others, using courses available on the e-learning portal.

Later, TPCoE expert discussed the procedures for responding in case of an attack of the so-called mass killer. He drew attention to the need for knowledge both in the prevention of terrorism and radicalization, as well as skillful response in the situation of selected terrorist threats.

The event was another workshop organized within the framework of scientific and didactic cooperation between the Centre of Studies and Education for Security at the University of Wroclaw and the Centre for Terrorist Prevention of the Internal Security Agency.
