INTERPOL Global Summit on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles
The INTERPOL fourth edition of the international expert conference on drones was held in Oslo on June 20-22 this year. The event gathered over 300 representatives from 50 countries. Among the participants were representatives of law enforcement and security as well as crisis management.
The event facilitated the exchange of experiences, knowledge and best practices both in the field of security threats that drones may pose, as well as the use of technology in the activities of law enforcement agencies. The activities of INTERPOL so far have focused on three key issues:
- The use of systems and intelligence to counteract the threat from drones
- The use of drones by law enforcement and associated guidance
- The recovery of data and identifiers from drones and associated equipment
The use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the security sector is currently one of the fastest growing areas, both in the offensive and defensive dimension.
