Young people's courage and self-confidence are needed to fight crime effectively

At the recent UN General Assembly, there was a debate on making young people more active in the topic of crime fighting policies. Young people are often seen as the main perpetrators of crime, while they are often the most vulnerable.

Young people are among the most vulnerable groups to victimisation, particularly in terms of gang-related crime, violent extremism and sexual exploitation, yet they are not adequately protected, it was raised at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Because of their age, energy and capacity to learn, young people have been identified as 'key agents of change in effectively addressing many of the world's challenges'. The world is becoming more fragile and less safe than ever, and investing in young people, valuing their voice will contribute to actively changing the world for the better, and in turn making it safer for all.

The essence of education, which is crucial for shaping a society more resistant to crime, was also highlighted. In Poland, the institution responsible for raising anti-terrorist awareness and prevention of radicalisation is TPCoE. In this respect, the Centre directs its profiled trainings to officers and employees of special services, public administration bodies, representatives of scientific and research institutions, students and employees of private sector institutions.
