Protecting children against radicalization

On 18-20 May 2021, the 6th plenary meeting of the Council of Europe Counter-Terrorism Committee (CDCT) took place.

The committee approved two draft recommendations on:

1. Measures to protect children against radicalization of terrorist attitudes, including targeting Member States to select the most effective tools to protect children from radicalization;

2. Using information collected in conflict zones (battlefield evidence) as evidence in criminal proceedings related to terrorist offenses.

This is another direction to strengthen the role of terrorist prevention in the process of preventing radicalization. As younger and younger people are becoming radicalized, the Council of Europe Committee has recognized the problem and has focused its strength and resources on prevention of this most vulnerable group of people.
