TPCoE’s participation in crisis communication exercises in Brussels
On 4 May, TPCoE’s officers participated in workshops organised in Brussels by the European Commission on crisis management after a terrorist attack.
During the event, among others, issues connected with the role of local communities in mitigating the effects of the attack (including prevention of dissemination of extremist propaganda) and coordination of information on the attack in order to reduce the negative influence of terrorist content in the online and offline space were raised.
They discussed best practices in conducting proper information activities after a terrorist incident by state services and institutions, political leaders, and media entities. Particular attention was paid to issues related to maintaining the right balance between informing the public about the incident as quickly as possible and as reliably as possible.
