Frontex is expanding its activities to Serbia
The Agency seconded 44 officers from 14 Member States to Serbia to identify and prevent cross-border criminal activities, including terrorist activities.
This is the third country in the Western Balkans where the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) has become operational at the Serb-Bulgarian border, where an increase in illegal border crossings has been recorded in recent years. The entire process will be coordinated from the Frontex headquarters in Warsaw, while the Local Coordination Center will be established at the Gradina border crossing point. In addition, the officers transferred to Serbia will participate in activities carried out under the EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats).
