ABW’s training for representatives of large shopping centres

On September 6, 2021, ABW’s TP CoE conducted training for the management staff of shopping centres: Arkadia, Galeria Wileńska, Galeria Mokotów, and Centrum Handlowe Ursynów. The above is part of an educational campaign initiated by TP CoE to raise awareness also among the operators of private retail and service complexes.

During the training, the issue of current extremist and terrorist threats to the security of the Republic of Poland, including public space, of which large shopping centres are a critical part, was discussed. In this context, the officers of the Centre pointed to the need to standardize procedures in the field of anti-terrorist prevention, in particular alarm and crisis practices. The importance of activities aimed at building a stronger culture of security was emphasized and it was pointed out that the condition of the security of trade complexes is also the consistent dissemination of knowledge among the whole society about the nature of terrorism as a global phenomenon.

While discussing the recommended behaviours during the course of a terrorist event and the conduct of perpetrators using firearms or improvised explosives, attention was also paid to the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors in the field of effective identification and neutralization of threats to users of large-scale facilities.
